CALIFORNIA PILOTS ASSOCIATION
The California Pilots Association is a non-profit public benefit California Corporation formed in 1949. The mission of our statewide volunteer organization is to promote and preserve the state’s general aviation airports. We have long recognized that the state’s general aviation airports are more than irreplaceable transportation infrastructure assets. They also serve as disaster recovery centers - most recently demonstrated during the annual wild fires across the state, and in the past during the major earthquakes. Airports are also beneficial as regional economic engines, just as the highway system serving the community is. Past studies have confirmed the financial benefits of general aviation airports to their communities. You can help to get the message out by joining us. After all, if you not you, who will protect your airport?

‘Washington, we have a problem’
|
|
by GA News - The Pulse
Each time I read of a new security proposal that will impact
general aviation, I feel like keying the mic button and saying,
“Washington, we have a problem.” You know, just to see if anybody’s
listening.
That’s because our freedom to fly is at risk.

Aviation Up In Arms Over Proposed FAA Rule Changes
|
|
by The Pacific Flyer Under new FAA rules, general aviation is about to undergo massive changes, none for the good, apparently.
The FAA Airports Division issued a revised FAA Order 5190.6B, Airport Compliance Manual recently, that, as EAA described it, caught "just about every one off guard."
Not only that it went from 94 to 691 pages of new rules and regulations, and it makes major changes that will affect several aspects of general aviation. Here are some of the more controversial ones:
Editors Note: Is this complete over-reaction by the FAA a result of the FAA running scared from TSA and its draconian general aviation proposals?

Land Use Near Inland Airports A Crucial Safety Issue
January 2009
By MICHAEL PERRAULT and DAYNA STRAEHLEY
The Press-Enterprise
When the Perris City Council allowed a 173,000-square-foot distribution center to be built inside the Air Force's "accident potential zone" just south
of the March Air Reserve Base runway, it defied a request by two Riverside County supervisors who feared developing the buffer zone more than the
recommended 20 percent.
Editor's Note: This article does an excellent job of explaining land use compatibility zones around airports, and why they are important.
